Seniors are among the most vulnerable to the Coronavirus and their well-being and safety is our top priority.

The Senior Aid for Food and Resources (SAFR) Program was authored by Fresno Councilmember Mike Karbassi along with Council Vice President Paul Caprioglio and Councilmember Luis Chavez, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The goal of the program is to provide essential resources to seniors while reducing their risk by limiting potential exposure to the virus. In partnership with Pardini’s catering and local food suppliers, seniors will be provided a weekly supply of groceries. Grocery boxes can be picked up through a contactless drive-thru method at three sites in the City of Fresno:

These boxes will include multiple foods from the 5 food groups, including dairy and meat items. The contents of the boxes will be rotated to provide variety.

The following requirements must be met to receive aid (requirements are subject to change):

  • Must be a resident in the City of Fresno
  • Must be aged 65 or older
  • One grocery box per household
  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Sign-ups will be weekly
  • There is no income requirement
